If you intend to apply for test accommodations for the MPRE, you must do so and wait for a determination to be posted to your NCBE Account File Cabinet before registering for the exam. More information about requesting accommodations can be found at How to Apply for MPRE Test Accommodations.
Registering for the MPRE
Dates and Deadlines
MPRE registration is a multi-step process. You must complete the NCBE portion of the registration process, schedule your test appointment with Pearson VUE, and pay the test fee by 11:59 p.m. central time on the registration deadline, or you will not be permitted to register for that administration of the MPRE. If you intend to request test accommodations, you must submit your request no later than the registration deadline for your preferred administration of the MPRE to have your request considered for that administration. If you request accommodations, you will have the opportunity to register and schedule after you receive your determination. Accommodations cannot be added to an existing test appointment.
It is to your advantage to schedule your appointment to test and pay the test fee as soon as possible to maximize the testing locations and times available to you.
If you require assistance or have questions about the registration process, please contact NCBE Candidate Services at 608-316-3075 or https://www.ncbex.org/contact. NCBE returns voice mails in the order received and strives to respond to inquiries within one business day.
2025 Test Dates
Registration is open for all 2025 MPRE test dates.

---|---|---|
March 26 or 27, 2025 | December 4, 2024 | January 23, 2025 |
August 20 or 21, 2025 | April 30, 2025 | June 18, 2025 |
November 13 or 14, 2025 | July 30, 2025 | September 25, 2025 |
Registration Process
The MPRE is developed by NCBE and administered on NCBE’s behalf by its test contractor, Pearson VUE, at testing centers in locations across the US, including locations in Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands. NCBE determines test accommodations for the MPRE, scores the exam, and reports scores to examinees and jurisdictions. The MPRE is administered on computers provided by Pearson VUE at its testing centers. It is to your advantage to schedule your appointment to test with Pearson VUE as early as possible to maximize the locations and times available to you.
You must have an NCBE Account to begin the registration process.
Step 1
Create an NCBE Account if you do not have one.
Step 2
If applicable, apply for MPRE test accommodations (otherwise, skip to Step 3). If you have a disability recognized under the Americans with Disabilities Act, as amended, that necessitates any deviation from the standard test administration (such as extended testing time), you should request accommodations and receive a determination from NCBE before continuing to Step 3. You are strongly encouraged to submit your accommodations request by the Recommended Submission Date for your preferred test administration. All requests submitted by the registration deadline for a particular test administration will be considered for that administration; however, the later you submit your request after the Recommended Submission Date, the higher the risk that you will not be able to test on your preferred test date, at your preferred location, and/or at your preferred test time.
Test Administration | Recommended Submission Date to Apply for Accommodations |
---|---|
March 26 or 27, 2025 | December 4, 2024 |
August 20 or 21, 2025 | April 30, 2025 |
November 13 or 14, 2025 | July 30, 2025 |
After you receive NCBE’s determination, if you do not plan to appeal or request reconsideration, complete steps 3 through 5 below within 48 hours from the time the determination is posted to your NCBE Account File Cabinet. Failure to do so may result in your inability to sit for the MPRE during your preferred administration. If you do plan to appeal or request reconsideration, do not proceed to Step 3 until you have concluded the appeal or reconsideration request process. More information on appeals and requests for reconsideration can be found on the MPRE Test Accommodations Decisions page.
Step 3
Log in to your NCBE Account, select MPRE Registration, and follow the instructions to complete the NCBE portion of the MPRE registration process and request your authorization to test.
Step 4
Receive an Authorization to Test email from Pearson VUE. The email will be sent from PearsonVUEconfirmation@pearson.com within 24 hours after you request your authorization to test (do not send correspondence to this email address, as it is not monitored); check your spam or junk mail folder.
If you have been approved for accommodations, you must ensure your Authorization to Test email lists your approved accommodations completely and correctly prior to scheduling an appointment with Pearson VUE. Only the accommodations listed in your Authorization to Test email can be included in your test appointment.
Contact NCBE Candidate Services if you do not receive an Authorization to Test email within 24 hours after requesting your authorization to test.
Step 5
Within 48 hours of receiving your Authorization to Test email, and no later than the registration deadline, schedule an appointment to test with Pearson VUE and pay the test fee to Pearson VUE (instructions will be provided in your Authorization to Test email; you may need to create a Pearson VUE account).
If you have been approved for certain accommodations, you might not be able to schedule your appointment online. Please see your Authorization to Test email for scheduling instructions.
Step 6
Receive a Confirmation of Pearson VUE Exam Appointment email and a Confirmation of Payment email from Pearson VUE.
If you do not schedule your appointment to test and pay the test fee by the registration deadline for your test administration, you will not be able to take the MPRE during that test administration.
NCBE will securely transmit your MPRE registration information to Pearson VUE, and Pearson VUE will securely transmit your MPRE answers to NCBE for scoring. It is your responsibility to review the NCBE Privacy Policy, the Pearson VUE Privacy and Cookies Policy, and, if applicable, the MPRE Test Accommodations Privacy Policy prior to beginning the registration process.
Scheduling Your Appointment to Test
The MPRE is administered in Pearson VUE testing centers across the country. Testing center choices cannot be guaranteed, and travel may be required. It is to your advantage to schedule your appointment to test and pay the test fee as soon as possible to maximize the locations and times available to you.
Testing Center Assignments
Pearson VUE handles all MPRE testing center assignments. Once you receive your Authorization to Test email from Pearson VUE and create a Pearson VUE account, you will be able to search for available testing centers as part of the scheduling process. Note that the MPRE is not administered at every Pearson VUE testing center.
For inquiries regarding Pearson VUE testing centers (including appointment scheduling, testing center locations, and what to expect at the testing center), contact Pearson VUE by telephone at 888-205-1855 or online at https://home.pearsonvue.com/Contact-Us.aspx.
Confirmation Email and Arrival Time
Within 48 hours after scheduling your appointment and submitting your payment, you will receive a Confirmation of Pearson VUE Exam Appointment email from Pearson VUE PearsonVUEconfirmation@pearson.com. (Do not send correspondence to this email address, as it is not monitored). The email will include your appointment time, date, and testing center, as well as any accommodations included in your test appointment. If you have been approved for accommodations, review the Confirmation of Pearson VUE Exam Appointment email to ensure your approved accommodations are included in your test appointment. It is your responsibility to promptly notify NCBE if an approved accommodation is not reflected in your confirmation email.
Contact Pearson VUE at 888-205-1855 if you do not receive a confirmation email within 48 hours of payment. (Do not contact NCBE about your confirmation email or your appointment details.)
Fees
The fee to schedule your test appointment with Pearson VUE is $160 and must be paid by debit or credit card.
- Rescheduling your appointment. MPRE appointments can be rescheduled for a different appointment time or a different testing center location for the same test administration for which you originally registered. You cannot transfer your registration from one administration to another, e.g., from August to November. Exam appointments must be rescheduled at least 48 hours prior to the first day of the test administration. To reschedule your appointment, access your online Pearson VUE account or contact Pearson VUE by telephone at 888-205-1855 and pay a non-refundable and non-transferable $25 rescheduling fee.
- Cancelling your appointment. If you are unable to test during the administration for which you registered, you can cancel your appointment and receive a partial ($80) refund. You can cancel your appointment in your online Pearson VUE account or by contacting Pearson VUE by telephone at 888-205-1855. You must cancel your appointment at least 48 hours prior to the first day of the test administration to receive a partial refund. Your registration cannot be transferred to another administration of the MPRE. If you have a scheduled appointment and are later approved for new or additional accommodations you will need to cancel your appointment and receive the partial refund, await a new Authorization to Test email from Pearson VUE which completely and correctly lists your approved accommodations, schedule a new test appointment, and pay a new test fee in order to test with those accommodations. NCBE encourages candidates NOT to begin the registration process until an accommodations determination has been posted to their NCBE Account File Cabinet and they no longer plan to appeal or request reconsideration.
The MPRE registration fee entitles you to receive one score release for your own records and to have a score report sent to the board of bar examiners of the jurisdiction you designate during the registration process. If you do not designate a jurisdiction before the exam, or if you decide you would like to have your MPRE score sent to additional jurisdictions, you must request and pay for a score report after the examination through MPRE Score Services.
